The Social Security Advisory Board has posted on its website a pre-publication version of the Board's report on the Social Security Statement, which provides annual estimates of retirement and disability benefits to working age Americans. The report runs through a large number of issues regarding the Statement, from the accuracy of its benefit projections to the Statement's content and the manner in which it is presented. From my quick read it seems to be a very good piece of work; congrats to the Board, their staff, and the many SSA folks who assisted them. Last year I published this piece in the Christian Science Monitor regarding one particular issue I have with the Statement. It doesn't seem as if the Board has made any recommendations for addressing this, which I think is unfortunate.
